More than a thousand Filipinos are currently in Japan to study and take higher studies. Many are scholars of the Philippine Government, the Japanese Government or private foundations and they graduate every March and September after the completion of their academic requirements.

With Filipinos comprising the third largest group of foreign nationals residing in Japan, a growing population of young Filipino-Japanese born and brought up in Japan are also graduating from Japanese academic institutions.

The PAGHAYO recognition rites honors the achievements of Filipinos graduating from academic institutions in Japan.

A Certificate of Recognition and a medal engraved with the words “Paghayo: Kaalaman Para sa Bayan” will be awarded to the new graduates.
